Yamaha Motor Canada Selects theturnlab as Media Agency of Record

Toronto, Canada — January 10, 2020: Yamaha Motor Canada, a leading brand in the motorsports and marine categories, has selected Toronto-based theturnlab as their new Media AOR. The agreement also includes social media strategy for all product channels, including motorcycles, ATVs, side by sides, snowmobiles, outboard motors, sport boats, WaveRunners, and power equipment.

“We met with some very good media agencies who delivered impressive pitches,” says Tim Kennedy, General Manager Marketing at Yamaha Motor Canada. “But what made theturnlab stand out was their strategic thinking and research capacity, which showed a deep understanding of our consumer.”

Yamaha Motor Canada’s product categories cover four seasons of the year and target a number of customer segments. theturnlab will be tasked with building detailed psychographic personas and individualized customer journeys in order to more effectively drive consumers to dealers and Yamaha’s own online accessories store.

“One of the key objectives for theturnlab is to create synergies between the Yamaha Motor Canada digital platforms we are building and the media strategy,” says Howard Chang, co-founder at theturnlab. “For example, because we handle the infrastructure of their website, we can be more agile when it comes to making sure digital ads land on relevant custom content, which is now more critical than ever for campaign effectiveness.”

Yamaha Motor Canada has engaged theturnlab for an entire suite of media services, including primary research, customer persona(s) development, customer journey mapping, media planning, media buying, reporting, and optimization. Campaigns using the new media strategy will be in-market in January 2020.
